Today I’m going to share the #1 thing to consider when choosing a solar system in Australia.

When choosing a solar system in Australia, don’t risk your #1 investment with a cheap one

  • Most owners of solar power systems are also homeowners.
  • Your home is probably your #1 investment, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars – if not millions.
  • Your solar system is also an investment, though on a much smaller scale.
  • You may double or more the investment value of your home. You may quadruple or more the money you invest in a solar system.
  • If a cheap solar system damages your #1 investment, was that a smart purchase?

I don’t want to scare you, but on rare occasions solar power systems can damage your house. And it can cost far more to fix the damage than the original price of the solar system.

The most common damage is when careless tradies break roof tiles, or install solar mounting equipment that causes rust or water ingress into your ceiling. This mostly occurs when tradies cut corners when installing cheap solar systems, and shouldn’t happen if you choose your solar retailer wisely.

In a very small number of cases, poor quality solar panels – or poorly-installed solar equipment – can cause the equipment to ignite, potentially spreading fire to your roof. Thankfully there hasn’t been many incidences where roofs have burned down, but unfortunately it has happened.

Russell French, co-founder of Solar Guide says

“Often solar systems are installed and forgotten about as you may not see them every day on the roof. However it is worth noting that if you combine cheap, low quality equipment with a poorly designed system, you will get low performance. And if that is also installed with corners cut, you will have made a poor investment.

Whilst high quality equipment, that is well designed as a complete system, with a professional quality installation, is higher performing and hassle free and therefore a great investment.

You really do get what you pay for with solar power systems!”

I trust you need no more convincing about why you should risk your #1 investment with a cheap solar system!
